Based off of the classic MTV series and the inspiration of about 50 episodes, Remote Control arrived to the Palace in 2006.
The premise of the game is like the actual television show. There are 9 cable tv channels, the contestants select a channel. After that, the channel is announced and a question worth 5, 10, and 15 points in Round 1, and 10, 20, and 30 points in Round 2. Whoever buzzes in with the right answer gets the points and has control. If they so choose, they can stay with that channel, or move on to another one. There is a maximum of 3 questions to a channel. Some channels have one or two questions.
RC Special Channels
During the Course of the game where will be special categories given help by the co-hosts and a special guest.
Talking Zenith (Round 1): Players will be shown visuals from the Zenith TV for the questions.
Beat the Bishop, Race The Rabbi (Both Rounds): One player will be given a question and they must get the correct answer before the Bishop/Rabbi finishes their task.
Sing Along With... (Round 2 Only): Co-host Ethan or someone else will sing a part of a song. The contestants must buzz in and finish the next line. First question is worth 20 points, second worth 30 points.
Ethan's Bruddah (Round 2 Only): Ethan and his "Bruddah" argue over a television show, both of them give the wrong information which leads to a big fight. The contestant will buzz in when the time comes up.
Talking Zenith Challenge (Round 2 Only): One member from the studio audience will have a chance to play by guessing as many answers on a certain topic in 30 seconds. Players at the podiums must predict how many he/she will answer. Player coming closest without going over will win 20 points, if all players go over then the player closest to the answer will get the points. An exact prediction will reward 30 points to the player.
The Big Question (Round 2 Only): A super hard question is given to the players. Whomever guesses it correctly will win 50 points.
RC Game Show Channels
There are also Game Show categories which will allow one or all the players to participate.
Smush (Both Rounds): A "Smush" question is asked. Players must smush the answer into one to guess to win the points.
Survey Says (Both Rounds): A "Family Feud" type of survey question is asked. Whoever buzzes in with the #1 answer or closest to the #1 answer gets 10/20 points.
Match Em Up Good (Round 1 Only): A "Match Game" question is given to the player who selected the channel, he/she must match at least one member of the panel (Co-hosts) to earn 10 points.
Celebrity Square (Round 1 Only): A "Hollywood Squares" question is given to the player who selected the channel, he/she must agree or disagree to the question. A correct judgement will earn 10 points.
Channel 21 (Round 2 Only): One player will get a chance to wager how many of their points to play a game of blackjack. If they beat the dealer they win the points they wagered, but if they fail they lose those points.
Password Plus (Round 2 Only): A "Password" puzzle about a popular TV show is given to the players one word at a time. A correct guess on the very first word will reward the player 50 points, but for every word added, the points will be subtracted by 10. Any player can buzz in and guess at the puzzle, but if they miss they are out of the question.
Penalty Channels
Beware in Round 2 because there will be channels that will make the player in control lose 10 points.
Home Shopping Zone: The contestant is given a "Cheap" product that is normally seen on those QVC, HSN-esque shows..
Ranger Bob: The contestant is given some sound travel advice from "Ranger Bob" which often is more silly than useful..
Snack Break
At the end of Round 1, Mom will make an announcement and the players will receive a tasty snack from chips, popcorn, cookies, or pizza.
OFF THE AIR!
Seasons 1-4
After the second round, the player with the least points is yanked "Off The Air" which means he is killed for 0 minutes. After that, the last 2 contestants will play Think Real Fast for 60 seconds. Whoever is in the lead after that, wins the game and plays the bonus game for some prizes. The loser is yanked "Off The Air".
Season 5 & Syndicated
At the end of the second round, the players will play Think Real Fast for 60 seconds. Whoever is in the last after that is yanked "Off The Air". The remaing two players will wager how much of their points they earned on one final question. If they get it correct they win those points, however if its wrong they lose those points. The player with the highest score is declared the winner and the loser will be yanked "Off The Air".
Craft Matic Bed Bonus
The contestant is on the Craft Matic Adjustable Bed looking at 9 television monitors on the giant mountain. The screens will show images of famous TV shows, Celebrities, Cartoons, etc... They will have 60 seconds to correctly answer all of the monitors going from 1 to 9. They can pass and return to it at any time but they must go in chonological order first. Each correct answer will net them a prize, getting all 9 will give them the grand prize , which is usually a Car or a Motorcycle.
Wheel of Jeopardy
The contestant is asked 10 questions about either TV, Movies, Video games, etc... They will be spinning to try to change TVs to say Grand Prize by answering said questions and winning prizes. After they answer all 10 questions, the wheel will slow down to a halt. If the pointer lands on a monitor that says Grand Prize, they win all the prizes that they have won prior as well as the Grand Prize.
